ERASMUS+ 2021-23, ITALY

Erasmus + study visit for the 5th primary Kilkis

The 5th primary of Kilkis participates in a 3-year partnership of schools, within the Erasmus+ program entitled "The primary school students become citizens of the globe". This project gives the opportunity to students from four European countries, Poland, Hungary, Italy and Greece, to consciously become citizens of the world. In today's rapidly changing world, people with well-developed eight core competencies who can and do use them consciously have a very good outlook on meeting 21st century labor market expectations. We want to ensure equal opportunities for our students and give them a good boost for their later life. Having extensive experience working with children and young people, we know that everything starts from the first years of education.

The skills we aim to develop are:

• Communication in the mother tongue (KC1)

• Communication in foreign languages (KC2)

• Mathematical ability and basic skills in science and technology (KC3)

• Digital Capacity (KC4)

• Learning to learn (KC5)

• Social and political skills (KC6)

• Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship (KC7)

• Cultural Awareness and Expression (KC8)

The program was implemented remotely in the first year, on the e-Twinning platform, due to the limitations of the pandemic. Now we can implement the planned mobility of students and teachers. Thus, the first live teacher working meeting took place in Fano, Italy, October 4-8, 2021.

The 5th primary of Kilkis was represented by Christos Despoinidis (computer scientist), Elli Kesidou (teacher) and the school principal and program coordinator, Afroditi Ntinou.

The hospitality of our Italian colleagues was excellent and the live workshops of the program were very enlightening and productive.

We had the opportunity to organize the continuation of our program, to learn about the Italian education system, the operation of the corporate school Instituto Massimo Nuti, to visit a Montessori school, in the medieval town of Gubbio, where we also toured its monuments and immersed in its history. We also got to know the history of Fano, but also of Urbino, after visiting these medieval cities and their historical monuments. We learned about the famous and oldest in Italy, Fano Carnival and visited the chariot factory, where we were guided by the artistic directors, while the event was covered by television.

It was a very interesting trip, a mixture of modern times (through education) and medieval history (through tours), which left us with the best impressions. We returned richer in knowledge and experience and ready to host in turn our chosen partners.
