Erasmus meeting in Greece

Primary school students become citizens of the globe

The study visit for the Erasmus + program, in which the 5th Primary School of Kilkis participates, is in full swing, entitled "The primary school students become citizens of the world" (The primary school students become citizens of the globe). Our partners from Italy, Hungary and Poland are in Kilkis this week and are monitoring the work on the topic of ecological awareness and familiarity with the natural environment. Our action plan follows three axes:

1- the prehistoric natural environment, where we visited the Cave and the Paleontological Museum of Kilkis. Our fellow citizen, Mr. Vassilis Makridis, guided us in an impeccable way. Our partners were happy and we thank him warmly!

2- the historical urban environment, where we visited Thessaloniki. We first passed by the White Tower, where the tour was undertaken by students of the 5th grade, who participate in the program. Then we attended an educational program at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, on the subject of "pandemics in ancient times"

3- the modern natural environment with human interventions, where we visit the area of Lake Kerkini and study the protected wetland, as well as the area of Lake Doirani.

On the first day of the visit (15-2-2022), we had an evening at the Conference Center of the Municipality of Kilkis, where the Mayor Mr. Kyriakidis spoke to the children about citizenship and gave the delegations souvenirs of our city. The countries' missions then presented their work on ecology. Pupils of our school presented the work done at the school for active citizenship, as well as information and sights of our area. It was a really wonderful event, which brought us closer and highlighted the value of the program, especially in the field of incentives, for children.
